What is psychodynamic psychotherapy?

It is an approach, which uses the relationship between patient and therapist as the focus, but there is also a focus on everyday life and outside experiences. Part of the work is through interpretations that aim to help the patient be more conscious about the unaware or unconscious part of themselves.  The theory base is psychoanalytic. In intercultural psychodynamic orientation, such elements as race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, culture, nationality, disability, religion, and age, among other categories, are focused on that influence people’s feelings, thoughts and behaviors.
